James Wiseman Leaves Memphis To Begin 2020 NBA Draft Preparation

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Dec 19, 2019 7:59 pm

James Wiseman has left Memphis and will sign with an agent to begin preparing for the 2020 NBA Draft.

Wiseman began informing Memphis coaches in recent days about his decision to leave school.

Wiseman received a 12-game suspension from the NCAA and was scheduled to be eligible again in January.

Wiseman is expected to be a top-five pick in the draft.

So there was definitely more money they paid him right?? Seems like he’s staying ahead of the next shoe dropping.

Never heard of the guy, but it's a great decision if he's likely to be a lottery pick. It's really a wonder 10-20 guys don't do the exact same thing every year.

Another gem from the NCAA. Good for Wiseman, he will likely be a top 5 pick anyway.

I'm all for him staying healthy and focusing on the draft, but in this case, I kind of feel bad for Penny after he stood up for his guy. Who knows what the NCAA might lay down after the season. Even some NIT visibility could have helped Memphis with their recruiting.

likely? It's almost a guarantee he's going in the top 5 unless he gets hurt. He's got the size and skillset that makes NBA teams drool when thinking about a big.

But yeah the NCAA just keeps kicking themselves with how they selectively and widely inconsistent governing of college sports.

The coaches are the ones getting raped here.

You feel bad for Penny?? That's funny. He just started coaching and is already one of the most questionable character guys in the NCAA. He is what is wrong with college basketball. Thrived in the crooked AAU system and now carrying that over into Memphis. Do you honestly think what has come out is the extent of his payments? There is no way.

I am not sure if he got paid more, but I think the issue was Penny donated 1 million 10 tears ago, and that made him a booster according to the NCAA. They played hardball, and the kid got tired of being used. Now the NCAA kind of screwed up a little because they will make ZERO dollars off of him. Personally, the AD should have KNOWN this was coming. So I don't feel sorry for anybody. Wiseman will get paid, and Memphis will be fined, and only get low end recruits now.

The things wrong with college basketball go far beyond Penny and similar cohort's. It starts at the top.
