The Utah Jazz have agreed to acquire Jordan Clarkson from the Cleveland Cavaliers for Dante Exum and two second round picks.
The Jazz hope Clarkson will give the team a lift with scoring off the bench.
Exum has struggled to stay healthy during his career.
The Jazz will send Cleveland 2022 (via San Antonio) and 2023 (via Golden State) second-round picks.
Clarkson arrives with a $13.4 million expiring contract. Exum has two years, $19.2 million left on his contract.

Awesome acquisition by the Jazz. Clarkson is dumb as hell but he is walking bucket when he is on.

Clarkaon has the potential to be an effective 6th man scouting combo guard off the bench.
Utah needed a change

It's a great trade though. They get off a useless player who is one of their worse contracts and get an expiring Clarkson and even his bird rights for the price of two 45+ 2nd rounders. Surely the Cavs could have got more had they waited. Clarkson is actually having a damn good year and is on a reasonable expiring and he's even young if you want to try to resign him. 2 crappy 2nd's and bad salary? Cavs must like Exum as a reclamation project or something. I don't see it though.

People always seem to underestimate Clarkson's scoring ability, but he is rapidly turning into the new Ramon Sessions. Can score. Will never make an impact. Will travel the league, rarely staying in place more than a year or two, bringing a little lottery scoring guard punch off the bench until the day he retires.

Article should say - Exum struggled to learn game of basketball through his career. Absolutely busted pick, one of the most overrated internationals since Tzikitishvili, Saer Sene and Korolev. Next stop CHina or back home to Australia. But at least dude got paid for " potential".

Same. They're better off giving Clarkson's minutes to Porter Jr.

Never been overly fond of Clarkson, but I agree with the consensus that this is a nice pick-up for the Jazz, dealing away Exum (who we weren't really using anyway) and some spare picks [edit: and I say this not even knowing the contract sizes, which as I've read on sounds like is a plus for the Jazz too]. Could provide a desperately needed offensive boost to the 2nd unit and/or more fill-in options in the backcourt with Conley missing time.
Definitely is no where near enough to make us a contenders, but more formidable all the same.

Porter was already getting minutes running with JC off the bench together.Clarkson for all his years of over dribbling and tough shot taking and making and never passing etc was always doing what CLE needed him to do= score the basketball. you cannot insert him in the SL and be a part of your offensive machine and get the same level of player as you can bringing him off the bench to get you buckets by himself. However this season under Beilein he was showing his skillset of distributing and on defense being far better than most of us saw prior and tbh I am not cool with them getting two meh 2nds for him. But he was probably walking this summer being now rep'd by Klutch anyway so at least CLE got something for him. He can start for any team in the league that plays a lot of iso but has to come off the bench for a team that thrives on less dribbling high passing etc
