Kings Open To Reconciling With Dewayne Dedmon

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jan 28, 2020 3:18 pm

The Sacramento Kings are open to reconciling with Dewayne Dedmon.

Dedmon fell out of the rotation with the Kings and he subsequently has sought a trade both privately and publicly. Dedmon was fined $50,000 for his comments.

“I would like to be traded,” Dedmon said. “I haven’t been playing, so I would like to go somewhere where my talents are appreciated.”

The Kings have been listening to trade offers for Dedmon, but are only prepared to execute a trade that makes sense for them.

Dedmon signed a three-year, $40 million contract in July with the Kings.

Everybody is losing their freaking minds. Nutbars and wingnuts have infested this forum. We've become a public lavatory without cleaning staff.

Another Vlade Divac fiasco

In all earnesty, the relationship is beyond repair. Vlade has to trade Dewayne. Period

His choices include swapping Dewayne for Courtney Lee's expiring contract with Dallas and swapping Dewayne for Rudy Gay with San Antonio. That's pretty much it

Of the two choices, Courtney Lee probably is the better option for the Kings

That would be a great way for SAS to get worse. Maybe ATL when/if they strike out on Adams and Drummond.

Rudy Gay is playing in the second unit for the Spurs whereas Dewayne Dedmon in a San Antonio uniform can be either LaMarcus's front court partner or his replacement in case the Spurs want to move him

In any case, Dewayne Dedmon represents a upgrade for the Spurs over an aging Rudy Gay

what does reconciling mean in this context?

he wasn't playing a lot of minutes so he asked to be traded. Did he suddenly got better to deserve more minutes or does he not feel bad about playing fewer minutes and doesn't want want to be traded any more?

or is it that no team wants to trade for him unless the Kings throw in a sweetener?

Dallas just traded for another Center so I highly doubt they’re not going near that deal.

The biggest problems here is the Kings first overpaid DD as a free agent and have since devalued Dedmon so badly that he’s going to be extremely difficult to trade. Divac wasn’t even smart enough to insist on a contract that ends before the 2021 free agent class which is extremely important to potential suitors. They don’t have many options other than repairing the relationship Building his value back.

Dewayne Dedmon seriously needs to make peace with the Kings before his trade value goes down further to where no other team would be interested in the contract Sacramento gave him in the 2019 offseason.

Willie Cauley-Stein is an old school center. He is a backup big, not the monster he was once advertised to be when he was drafted

Dallas can comfortably fit KP, DD and WCS in the same front court

Dewayne... is that you?

First of, wings are the most valuable position in the league.
Second, Dedmon is currently a third unit player and can in no way replace Aldridge.
Third, Dedmon is overpaid, and for one year longer than Gay.
Fourth, I think you have confused a reduction in minutes with a reduction in productivity. That's just a Pop thing; when he has more options he runs guys less. He's only got 3 guys averaging more than 24 MPG. PER36 Gay is averaging 17/9/3. He shot well last season but his FG% is pretty close to his career mark.

How many Centers do you think they plan to trade for? They already made their move, zero chance they’d be interested in Dedmon or his contract at this point.
