Cavaliers Promote J.B. Bickerstaff To Full-Time Head Coach

The Cleveland Cavaliers have promoted J.B. Bickerstaff from associate head coach to full-time head coach.

John Beilein and the Cavaliers agreed to part ways on Tuesday.

Bickerstaff was hired as part of an eventual succession plan with Beilein. Bickerstaff has previously been a head coach with the Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies, with both spots coming as part of in-season coaching changes. Bickerstaff replaced Kevin McHale with the Rockets and David Fizdale with the Grizzlies.

Folks in Dallas wish JB Bickerstaff coached football and was an assistant on the Cowboys 3-4 years ago lol.

The league really needs better coaches all around. The NBA needs to move on from these people manager type coaches. You need highly technical coaches that are agile to opposing team players and strategies, and coaches that use just the right amount of analytics. Kerr, Nurse, Popovic type coaches are the example, where a strong system is drilled into players, which establishes a strong floor. Even with complete garbage players the Spurs and raptors can only do so bad. then you get a good player and all of a sudden, your ceiling is high again. But these teams like the Bulls, Cavs, magic are complete garbage, and its 100% because of the coaching staff and lack of a modern philosophy. Their players are not even that bad. Just watching them play is horrifying. The raptors G league team with complete garbage players can beat the bulls or cavs.
