The New York Knicks could pursue a trade for Chris Paul this offseason.

Paul is having a resurgent career at the age of 34, but he is owed $41.4 million in 20-21 and $44.2 million in 21-22. The Oklahoma City Thunder acquired Paul from the Houston Rockets as part of the Russell Westbrook trade and were unable to trade him to another team this past offseason.

Leon Rose, who is now running the Knicks, was the longtime agent of Paul.

This would be same ol knicks. While they desperately need a PG, he's not the long term solution. If anything they should have pulled the trigger on D Russel.

I can see it now, Chris Paul, Melo, bring Bosh out of retirement. Combined age of their big three will be 105. They can play three on three vs The living members of the ‘73 championship team. Senior basketball at its best at MSG.

Zero chance Giannis goes to the Knicks. Absolutely zero. The Knicks have been the most incompetent franchise in the league for decades now. Players understand that and they don't want to play there. Why go to a franchise that's chronically mismanaged? Giannis is smarter than that.

The Knicks do need a starting calibre PG, but OKC better throw in a truck load of sweeteners. Say, a first round draft pick plus a rotation player on a cheap contract

CP3 at 38 will still be far better than any player that would be willing to sign with the Knicks. And since most of OKC's assets will be on rookie deals while CP3 is there, OKC has no immediate need to move him. OKC would need to be getting something back for CP3 and I don't see anything in NYK that OKC would want.... so it won't happen.

I know that some don't understand this, but Paul was pretty good the last two seasons in a system that went increasingly away from his strengths. All he did to have a "resurgence" was to step out from Harden's shadow.

Your statement doesn't make sense... at least not to me. They should be rebuilding and sending out assets? You don't give up assets to get off bad money when you are rebuilding. You take on bad money to get assets, which is what they did this past summer. And technically, it's only bad money when you need it to sign another player, which OKC doesn't at the moment.

If OKC gets to the point that having CP3 around is viewed as a negative they will either trade him for assets or pay him to go away. There is no need for OKC to give up assets when they are years away from needing to pay anyone. Right now, OKC's only motivation to trade CP3 would be to bring back assets.

This is very strangely okay with me. I still don't like him though.

you're both off. he fell off last season and is about on that level again this season. his scoring efficiency is back up, but his assists are down again (to a career low), as is his defensive activity. still a really good player, just not close to what he used to be. which is to be expected at his age

he's on the same page as you are. he's saying that no team will take cp3's contract w/o an additional asset or two, thus OKC should stand pat

CP3 playing like this at age 34 on a 2-year contract has more demand than I think people realize.

OKC doesn’t need to rush, they have until trade deadline 2022 to pull the trigger and he should continue to play at a high level for a few more years.

Hmm... I wonder how many teams want to pay $85m over two seasons for a fringe starter / veteran sixth man. Last time I check that number is a big donut. Have fun!

Fringe starter? He's a fringe all-NBA player.

18/5/7/2 on great efficiency, defense, leadership and being a floor general. Give me a break.

Does anyone think CP# will attract other FA's?
I don't see why they would spend all that money on an soon to be washed up PG.
