Ja Morant wrote a letter to a Kentucky judge asking for the removal of a Confederate monument in downtown Murray.

"As a young Black man, I cannot stress enough how disturbing and oppressive it is to know the city still honors a Confederate war general defending white supremacy and hatred," wrote Murray in the letter to a Calloway County judge.

The monument, erected in 1917, features a statue of Robert E. Lee.

"Given recent events and the Black Lives Matter movement, it's necessary to act now. We can't change the culture of racism unless we change the celebration of racism," added Morant.

Oh now the statue is "disturbing and oppressive" when he went to Murray State it didn't bother him, but now it does. I don't why all of a sudden people want to make a big deal about statues and names of things that was here long before them and will be there long after.

Are you sure you don't know why?

BS. You know exactly why but you choose not to give a hoot. You are part of the problem.

lol @ "it didn't bother him" when he went to murray state.

you do know black people live their entire lives in the south with confederate symbolism they find disturbing and oppressive, right? we have been speaking up about this since forever. until this moment, very few people listened. we usually get, "calm down, boy. it's heritage. not hate." "it is necessary to act now" because people are listening and changes are being made in this area.

It's a statue, I'm black and I never walked by a statue was like "this statue is really impeding on my ability to live, I hope they take it down." There are better things to worry about and a damn statue isn't one of them.

How am I "clearly part of the issue"? There's better things in life that we can worry about and if people are getting bothered by that and not the root cause of everything then truth be told they are part of the problem.

STFU. I just don't give a damn about a statue when there's more important things that we can look to solve first.
