Kings Expected To Retain Vlade Divac

There is no indication the Sacramento Kings will part ways with Vlade Divac or Luke Walton this offseason, sources tell Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Divac signed a four-year extension in April of 2019 that lines up with Walton’s contract.

Sources say Joe Dumars has become a valued voice for Vivek Ranadive since he was hired in June 2019. Dumars and Ranadive were together in Orlando to watch the Kings from the outside-the-bubble seats. Sources say there is synergy and trust between Divac and Dumars.

I feel bad for the Kings, I really do... but my criticism of Divac as GM has been like fine red wine in an oak barrel - it ages very well and its value grows exponentially. :D

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. :banghead:

Go into the bubble and come out 2-6 is the best reason to retain the GM! The Kings are basically the Knicks of the west.

The problem isn’t Vlade, Luke, Dumars, etc. It’s Ranadive. Top-3 worst owner in the league.

Ben Gordon, Charlie V and Josh Smith comeback.

Oh wait I think the Pistons are still paying half these turds Dumars nearly maxed out.

At least he has that Darko pick on his resume.

Edit: I take it back Josh Smith comes off the books at the end of this season

Waived using stretch provision on December 22, 2014.
Signed July 10, 2013 for an assumed $54,000,000 for 4 years.

HHHAHAAAHA this clown waived him SIX YEARS AGO

Now Vivek has a buddy buddy thing with Joe Dumars? I guess we know who Vlade's successor is going to be. The guy who traded Chauncey Billups to create capspace so he could sign Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. The same guy who brought us the Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond, Josh Smith frontcourt.

Totally reminds me of when Vlade hired Chris Mullin several years ago and said "He's my Jerry West". Now doing the same thing with Dumars.

Vlade is the new Ernie Grunfeld, without the occasional playoff appearance.

Kings have gone 14 straight years without making the playoffs. Next year they are going for a record 15 straight misses. During those 14 years they have had 300 players, 9 different head coaches, 3 GMS that I can recall, and 2 owners. Year after year they always seem to find some player to scapegoat, but I would suggest that when it goes on this long the problems have to lie with the higher ups with the long tenures. Now their' two apparent GM choices are the guy who chose Marvin Bagley over Luka Doncic vs. the guy who chose Darko Milicic over Dwayne Wade. Good luck.

For people thinking Vivek is one of the worst owners, well yes he has been incompetent. But he's not despised like later term Maloofs or Dolan.

Hopefully he does the right thing and gets a better GM in here and allows him to tear it all down.
