Thunder Offered Two-Year Extension To Billy Donovan Before Restart

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Sep 10, 2020 2:48 pm

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Billy Donovan agreed to part ways this week after five seasons as head coach.

The Thunder are now widely believed to be pivoting to a rebuild.

But the Thunder did offer Donovan an extension with two seasons guaranteed before the restart in July that he declined. Both the Thunder and Donovan agreed to table discussions until the end of the season.

I mean, he did just finish 3rd in the coach of the year voting. If he gets a new job then you are probably looking at 4 or 5 years of guaranteed money instead of 2.

I am guessing it was a reduced rate and length due to COVID19.. You know none of them actually need the money they just see the length of the contract and amount as status..

its better not to be locked in long term with a team like okc cause they are going into that rebuild that was a way for you to get the bag while waiting to move on being locked into okc for 5 years is a death sentence. Let them fire you after take their money I was saying he just lost 10 mil stupid move on his part
