NBA Expected To Start Next Season In January At Earliest

The NBA previously announced they won't start the 20-21 season before Christmas Day after originally planning on starting on December 1st, but Adam Silver revealed on Tuesday that the next season will begin in January at the earliest.

Silver reiterated that the NBA's goal for 20-21 is to play a standard 82-game season.

The NBA is finishing the 19-20 season playing at a single site campus in Orlando, but that is not expected to be repeated for next season.

Why the push for a 82-game season?

Make it a 58 game season where every team plays another only twice.

I'm assuming the January start is only for 2021. Going forward, nothing beats the October - June schedule. Players like having summers off, and basketball starting in Fall just has a nice ring to it.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

As a fan of an eternal lottery team, I'm very excited to get a 9 month break in between seasons instead of the usual 5 months.
