Lawrence Frank Named NBA Executive Of The Year

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Oct 8, 2020 7:03 pm

Lawrence Frank of the Los Angeles Clippers has been named the winner of the 2019-20 NBA Basketball Executive of the Year Award, the NBA announced today.

This is the first NBA Basketball Executive of the Year Award for Frank, who has served in the Clippers’ front office since 2016 after spending 20 years in the NBA coaching ranks.

Frank received 10 of 29 first-place votes and earned 61 total points from a panel of team basketball executives throughout the NBA. Oklahoma City Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti finished in second place with 41 points (four first-place votes), followed by Miami Heat President Pat Riley in third place with 39 points (four first-place votes).

That's odd. Paul George was a horrible signing and they just fired their coach for choking away a 3-1 lead. But he's the best executive LOL.
SELL THE TEAM, JIM!!! :curse:

Tampers with his biggest signing the whole season before he signs him, then gives up the teams whole future for a failed experiment. Sounds like the best executive in the league to me...

Maaai Ujiri pulls off 2 major trades and his team wins championship...no executive of the year award.

This clown builds a team that flames out in the second round and gets the award?

Showing up to Raptor games all year gets you this award now?

That's what I'm saying, they show Ujiri no love at all. He took a big risk trading his best player for an injured disgruntled star player and a older declining all star and it payed off winning the franchise's only championship.

Raptors went further than the Clippers in the playoffs this year too, shouldn't that make Masai an even better option this year than Frank? Lol...makes no sense to give it to him. What did he really do? Give up a million picks for PG, who basically came as a package deal with Kawhi? He signed Morris? Yeesh.

Frank this season: Stalks Kawhi Leonard for the entire season prior, trades an entire teams future for pandemic P, puts together a group of role players that don't complement each other, team chokes in the 2nd round leading to the firing of their head coach.

Masai last season: Acquires Kawhi for Derozan WITHOUT giving OG or Siakam, promotes Nick Nurse (Next season COTY who revamps the offense and defense) instead of an external hire, pulls a 2nd big trade at the deadline to land Marc Gasol, Raptors go on to win the championship.

This award makes no sense

All this trash. Pat riley should have run with this and not even close. Draft herro, trade the untradable in dion waiter 3 years left, james johnson 2 years, bust Winslow and now in finals. Awards in the nba are a joke

Im no Lebron Fan (i dont hate him), but Lakers Prez should of won this one, Traded for AD and took a risk (young players etc.) , KCP took a discount contract, Dwight/Rondo helped out in the playoffs. Now they will win the Chip.

But props to Lawrence frank, he went from a coach to a Exec. I remember his Nets days

These are regular season Awards. gettigg to the Finals with the Heat is very impressive and speaks for the whole Heat organization but should have no effect on this award.

He put together an awesome team on paper. The players were the ones that choked. We need to stop analyzing this stuff in hindsight. Literally no one knew 4 months ago that Paul George would be this awful in the playoffs, that Harrell would be out of shape and this much of a liability on defense, that the stone cold killer Kawhi would completely fall apart in a game 7. The players, and coach to some extent, deserve the blame. They were the ones that didn't prepare for the bubble properly and didn't show up ready to play. Lawrence Frank had nothing to do with that.

Let's be Frank here. Lawrence doesn't deserve this.

Ujiri, Riley, Pelinka or even Presti would be much better choices.

It should say something that the GM who hosed the Clippers came in 2nd.

Given that the GMs cast their votes, 1/3rd of them are terrible at evaluation.

Most boring part of sports talk is this, people judging things solely based on final score. Kawhi was insanely good in big moments for years and years in the PO and then he stunk in the 4th quarter of multiple games against DEN. There were probably at least like 30 factors that went into the Clippers flopping and they aren't because the Clippers were inherently phony or paper tigers. Sports are so much more interesting when people let them be complex and see all that goes into winning or losing, but 80% of the time people just want to say 'nice choke, loser' or 'a champion is a champion' and stop there.

The NBA is just trolling the Clippers at this point, right?

First, Harrell wins some garbage hustle award and now Frank with EOTY?

The thing that drives me up a wall is when people act like the most recent result in a players career determines who they are as a player, and that's just not reality. Just because a player chokes doesnt mean they're always going to, just because a player hits a clutch shot doesnt mean they're clutch, if a guy doesnt have a jump shot his rookie year that doesnt mean he cant learn how to shoot.

You could make the case if it was a series that went 2-2 3-3 and then denver won the last game but they lost 3 in a row.. They were paper tigers.. And there is no way you give up everything lose in the second round and get executive of the year... You really think that teams will be lining up to hire Lawrence... No and we all know why..
