Adam Silver is framing Morey's resignation letter in gold and sending it to the China government on his next personal rear-kissing trip.

Damn. I don't like the way he went out.
But on the other hand, Tilman isn't a good owner and things may have only gone downhill from here.

As he should, Silver even offered to "extradite" him to the mother country for further education and reconditioning, for his war crimes against The State.

"While Morey isn't ruling out a potential return to the NBA, he has become increasingly interested in pursuing interests outside of basketball."
Translation:
"Morey would take an NBA job today if anyone would offer him one, which all 29 other teams would if it were about merit instead of politics, but he's known since the Chinese Communist Party went insane over a three-word retweet last October that his days in the NBA were numbered, so he's been planning the next stage of his life for a year now."

Sadly, this is likely correct. There’s little question “the league office” (read: Dave Silver) spoke to Houston’s ownership after Morey’s retweet.

His work proved analytics. The rockets have been nothing but successful under him.

How does Morey resigning show that analytics "doesn't work"?

I was wondering if Fertitta was a big part of this, seems like an awful personality to have to work with plus he's also likely to cheap out a bunch more now. Morey seems like a guy that likes a smart, cosmopolitan environment and Fertitta seems like more of mini-tyrant type who would set a very different vibe.

Wait, your standards are that one team who sort of uses analytics must win a title within like 8 years, or else all of analytics doesn't work? The Rockets were a top-5 team for the past decade, won at least 50 games most years and won their division 4 of the last 6 years. Made the CF a few times and the 2nd rd 7 times, also gave the strongest challenge to the W's super team. If that's how you're measuring 'analytics' I'd say it's been way better than any approach besides 'build super team in elite flashy market.'

I wouldnt say it doesn’t work, just that the current iteration isn’t perfect. Basketball is very intricate and the nuances are extremely difficult to put into stats. It’s possible in the future it’s tracked better but who knows?
Being a Blazer fan isn't exactly healthy.
