The Chicago Bulls are likely targeting a lead playmaker in the draft, sources tell Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

O'Connor has LaMelo Ball falling to the Bulls at No. 4 in his latest mock draft.

The Bulls currently have Zach LaVine and Coby White in the backcourt.

Ball is 6'7 with a 6'10 wingspan, which gives him versatility defending multiple positions.

Didn't they pick a point guard last year?

Bulls already have 5 guys with PG/combo guard skills on the roster: Dunn, White, Satoransky, Lavine & Arcidiacano. I guess they don't like any of them.

My guess is that if this is the direction they’re going in, they’re moving LaVine and moving White to the 2.

It's Lamelo or Killian Hayes.

Makes sense that they're looking for their playmaker of the future, none of those guys is it. Dunn is a FA this offseason (and has never been a proven rotation player), Lavine and White are terrible distributors, Arcidiacono is a 9th man at best, and Sato's 29, not quite starting quality and on the trade block. None of those guys is the answer there.

There is a new regime in Chicago, so in essence it doesn’t matter who is currently on the roster.

Not sure if White at the 2 is a smart choice.

Killian Hayes would be a good pick.

Bulls should try to get the Raptors to sign & trade Fred VanVleet, if he prices himself above what the Raptors can pay (< 20M/yr). FVV is from Rockford, Illinois. Come home, Freddy.

VanVleet's more of a combo-y scorer than pure playmaker, not sure if that'd be the best play for them given White and Lavine. Be a good move but I could see them taking Ball or Halliburton to take a chance on a purer point.

Ah but you see he's versatile, he fails at defending 1-3 equally.
