The deal will include the 28th overall pick and possibly Danny Green.

The Lakers did their homework here, based off what I saw in the bubble the Lakers clearly lacked that third scorer and Dennis fits the bill. He'll be able to score the 15-30 points a night the Lakers were looking for from Kyle Kuzma.

While LeBron exits out of games Dennis will he able to keep the Lakere offense intact and keep pressure on opposing defenses, A+ move by the Lakers.

Yeah, this is an A+ move by the Lakers, as they thought ahead by assuming Rondo is a goner. Shroder can play 30 minutes a night off the bench and is only getting better. They're a little light on the wings with Green and KCP likely gone as well, but maybe they can figure it out. Signing Tristian Thompson to the Vet Min would help.

G - Shroder/Cook
G - Caruso/Horton-Tucker

F - Davis/Kuzma

Thompson has to pay for baby. He'll take the MLE paycut, not vet min.

I don't know about A+ since Danny Green is extremely useful and that 1st is nice too, plus Schroder makes the cap stuff harder going forward. But it's a really nice move that makes them more dangerous and fills one of their only glaring weaknesses.

My only possible caution on Schroder is that he's been really up and down for most of his career--it may look like he's 'only getting better' because he had a nice year last year, but his best season was probably 3 seasons ago, and he had decent seasons the year before and after that and then a pretty bad one the year before last. It's hard to write a simple narrative of steady progress/improvement for him because of that.

28th pick?

What is this the NFL?

Schroder is equal to at least the 12th pick. He's not even old either.

Pretty bad trade for the Thunder.

No disrespect to Green, but Schroder should of netted Presti more, unless this sets up additional moves to come.

Sounds like he thinks Schroder should've been dealt for either Kuzma or Caruso and the Lakers didn't give up equal value.

Dog sh.. Trade. Lakers win by a landslide. How do they always get the players they need for giving up nothing. Danny Green isn't needed at all. 28th pick? Wtf. Dennis is damn near a all-star and he's traded to the champions for Jack squat. Danny freaking Green? He's a 3 and d guy. Barely shows up. Kuzma was definitely supposed to be in this deal. Nba cheating again. OKC usually wins all there trades. Funny they lose this one with flying colors

Thompson for vet min? Very unlikely.

Lakers are sending out more money than they are getting, given the 1.9 due to for the 28th picks salary

Schroder has only 1 year left on his contract and he’s not exactly the type of player that brings a huge bounty in return. Getting a late 1st rounder is pretty good and obviously it was more than the Bucks were offering. Good deal for both sides.

The trade is a plus move for the Lakers. Some might call it a steal. But Schröder is a defensive liability. There's a reason the Hawks gave him away in a salary dump deal a couple of years ago. Green has enough trade value, I can see Presti flipping him for another low first rounder from a contender. He gave up only a lottery protected future pick to get Schröder, so if he can net two picks from the deal, it's a plus move for OKC. This draft actually is an upside type draft, where there is a ton of talent, but no sure thing type players, the kind of draft that could net you a good player in the teens and twenties, if you're a good evaluator, which Presti has proven.

That's great. I've watched him in the BBL(german basketball league) aswell as the german national team and also his nba career so far.
He will help the Lakers.

Really? What do you think Schroder was worth on the open market with 1 year on his deal left? I'm shocked they got a 1st, granted a lousy one, for him. It's not an amazing deal, but if you don't think Schroder was going to be around in a year, then I can't imagine getting a whole lot more.

Given they were working with multiple teams in as much as a bidding war as someone like him is likely to generate, its highly, highly unlikely there was going to be a better deal on the table later.

It’s a huge plus,
Last year Schroder was a plus defender as well,
Combine that with that fact he has improved his shot selection and still a solid passer...

He is an elite 6th man, if not one of the better starting point guards...
This trade us a steal for the Lakers, but I suppose in the context OKC want to rebuild, and Schroder doesn’t have the best contract situation.

If I'm Danny's agent, I'd tell him not to book that flight just yet. I'm sure Brooklyn would love to get off of Taurean Prince's contract and would offer draft compensation to get the job done.
