Lakers Interested In Signing Wesley Matthews To Replace Danny Green

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:45 pm

The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in signing Wesley Matthews to replace Danny Green, sources told Marc Stein of The New York Times.

Green was traded to the Thunder as part of a package to acquire Dennis Schroder

Matthews averaged 7.4 points and 2.5 rebounds with the Bucks last season.

The deal will be officially formalized on Wednesday, after the Lakers make the draft selection for the Thunder.

I like Green, but Schroder is a nice upgrade for a 3rd scorer and based on how Green played in the playoffs, I can easily see Matthews being able to provide that and more. Still a big if since they still would need to sign Matthews.

I honestly don't see KCP leaving. The Lakers front loaded his salary when he initially came here, I doubt he leaves for an extra couple of million now with him being on team LBJ. So KCP and Matthews would be a nice combo.

I hate to see Green leaving. Schroder is very immature and will take many ill-advised shots. KCP is a keeper in my view.
