Vernon Carey Jr. Signs Heavily Guaranteed Four-Year Deal With Hornets

Vernon Carey Jr. has agreed to a four-yer deal with the Charlotte Hornets.

The contract is expected to have the most guaranteed money among second round picks in the 2020 draft class.

Carey was the 32nd overall pick out of Duke.

makes sense to lock him up, this dude is gonna be the real deal for a second rounder. was top 5 in his class throughout high school, 19 year old true freshman drops 18/9/1.6 at 62% TS with 38% from deep in 25mpg in the ACC? This is an insane value pick even in the modern era of center valuation. A guy with this draft profile and resume goes top 5 in 2015

I mean, he also shot 20 3s the whole season and shot 67% from the FT stripe. He's not really a shooter and he's going to struggle guarding in space, there are obvious reasons why he fell to the 2nd rd. But he's a solid traditional big prospect and it makes sense he'd get a full guarantee for a team that could use one of those.
