76ers Will Evaluate Existing Roster Before Deciding Whether To Pursue James Harden

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Dec 30, 2020 4:29 pm

The Philadelphia 76ers were determined to enter the 20-21 season with their present roster in place to determine how Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and their new acquisitions would play before assessing whether to pursue a trade for James Harden.

Sources tell Sam Amick of The Athletic that "the results, chemistry, perceived ceiling and the like would all be factored in when it came to what might come next on the Harden front.

The 76ers are widely believed to have the capacity to put together the most attractive trade package for Harden due to the presence of a young star in Simmons. Daryl Morey also may covet acquiring Harden more than any other executive in the league due to their history together with the Houston Rockets.

They should probably hold on to Simmons if he's the only piece that can facilitate a trade. Harden + Embiid probably isn't enough to make the finals. Better off sticking with Simmons at least a little while longer to see if he can become a more complete guy.

Simmons has only made 2 three pointers during his career so far. He doesn't even try to attempt them. I don't think he's ever going to develop a solid shot but at the very least he could shoot a couple of threes a game. Which would make the defense give him some attention when he's on the perimeter. I think it would do wonders for Embiid.

The main difference is that each of them could defend 3 different positions on elite level while being coached by a top 3 coach in the league.

Just to be clear, you're shifting goal posts.

Harden in Philly would either go ridiculously well or ridiculously bad. Either way, I'm in
NBA fan first, Nets fan second, Grayson Allen hater third

I'm just not a fan of this what so ever. If we were talking about a squad of Ben, James and Joel that's a team. The second you take any one of those 3 names out of the equation.. sorry I just dont buy it anymore.

No reason to rush now. Beal is about to hit the market. Possibly LaVine as well. Sixers have the best trade chip, and as such can sit back and wait for the best deal.
