LeBron James Signs With PepsiCo, Expected To Promote Mountain Dew Brand

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jan 16, 2021 6:19 am

LeBron James has signed with PepsiCo following 17 years with Coca-Cola, confirmed Brian Windhorst of ESPN (the news was originally reported by Front Office Sports).

James is expected to promote the Mountain Dew brand, which is one of the NBA's top sponsors.

PepsiCo has been the league's official beverage partner since 2015.

James initially signed with Coca-Cola in the summer of 2003. His deal expired last year with both sides unable to reach an extension.

Lets take a step back here;

Do you show the same level of concern when an athlete promotes a fast-food chain? some of the foods that they serve can be considered poison.

Adults are free to make up their own minds and as for kids..parents should parent.

Yeah, you all expect too much here.

His objective is to get paid. Quit confusing things.

I am not saying he is not genuine with his off-court philanthropy, but keep in mind he donates a relatively small percentage of what he gets paid.

I show the exact level of concern when athletes shill for fast food restaurants. I thought the Olympics advertising McDonalds was one of the stupidest things ever. Any athlete with a conscience should never advertise for a company that is playing a big part in the epidemic that is killing countless people in his country and community: obesity. I mean, it’s not as if his contract with Pepsi will do anything to improve his standard of living. He has more money than he will ever spend in his lifetime.

LeBron does a ton of philanthropy - as another poster said, he's going to make money too. It's not LeBron's job to parent either children or grown men. If people are going to have Mountain Dew because LeBron advertises it then that's on them. Even more, people act like drinking Mountain Dew is legit poison. You can enjoy this stuff in "moderation".

Athletes promoting unhealthy food and drinks is one of the biggest hypocrite things ever. Whether it's MJ slam dunking for a cheeseburger or Bron promoting mountain dew garbage. Yes sure any adult should be free to choose what they wanna do with their life. But the more popular you are, unfortunately the more you can influence ordinary people.

And many kids look up to these athletes, them drinking mountain dew sends a message to these lil kids that "oh if this athletic dude can drink, maybe I should also". And many kids got plenty of unhealthy lifestyle relatives in their family, so they tend to look at famous people, like athletes, as a sort of guidance or motivation to maybe get better. There are many ways to get rich, promote electronics, services, cars, maybe healthier food too. Them choosing to promote cheesburgers or soda is a low key douche move.
