The Brooklyn Nets have been granted a disabled player exception worth $5.7 million for the loss of Spencer Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie tore his ACL in December and will be out for the rest of the season.

The Nets have until April 19th to use the exception.

I know that the Nets are already deep into the luxury tax, but I expect them to use this to improve their defense and frontcourt rotation. We needed some good news.

If this isn't used on JaVale McGee I'm throwing hands

That's if they buy him out.

The Bulls have Denzel Valentine & Garrett Temple. Both on 5M/one year deals that fit in this exception. Brooklynn still has a few 2nds for trade bait.

What adding a top 5 NBA player wasn't enough good news for you?

It can be used in a trade. Considering Cleveland got a second to take his contract on, I can't imagine it'd take more than a second (and hopefully Shamet - useless mf) for him

I read that as "Disgruntled player exception" and figured it was for Kyrie.

Career 39% from three...not useless.

Watch ONE Nets game before you say Shamet isn't useless. And cool if he's 39% from 3 for his career but he's under 29% for this year and that's not needed

Shooters usua0lyl regress to the norm. Given minutes, his percentage will go up. He has value around the league and value as depth, which is not useless.
