Malik Beasley Agrees To Plea Deal, Will Serve Sentence In Offseason

Malik Beasley has been sentenced to 120 days in jail after pleading guilty to one felony count of threats of violence. The term will be served after the NBA season is over and could be home confinement.

Under a plea deal, prosecutors agreed to drop felony drug charges against Beasley.

"We are very pleased with this outcome that will allow Malik to continue working on becoming a better person and making better choices," Beasley's attorney Steven Haney said in a statement.

The Plymouth Police Department said officers were called to Beasley's residence on a reported weapons offense. The reporting individuals told officers they had stopped their car in front of the house, and a "suspect walked up to their vehicle, tapped on the vehicle window, pointed a gun at them and advised them to get off of the property."

"As the victims drove away, the suspect was observed holding the gun up to his shoulder, pointing it at their vehicle," the police statement said.

That wasn't his best game of the year. 90% of his 30/9/8/1/1 came in the final 2 quarters. It was an amazing display for two quarters nonetheless.

I knew Beas wouldn't actually serve time, but he needs to get his **** together now. He is playing amazing since coming over from Denver, no one can deny that, but his literal get of jail free card is now gone...gotta keep your nose clean the next few years. He's a good, legit starting SG in this league, but he needs to reign in his crazy.

I like Beasley and he’s a rare bright spot for my Timberwolves, but I agree - this seems like a slap on the wrist for a rich client.

Beasley threatened a family and a 13 year old child with an assault weapon on the street in front of his house. There is recorded footage of him pointing an automatic weapon at his 19-month old son, and the complaint says he left three weapons, included a loaded shotgun on the main floor where his child had access to it.

Beasley has been a great basketball player for the Wolves, but these are serious crimes that could have led to deadly tragedies. It seems unfair to me that he gets a few months of house arrest for crimes that would have put most people behind bars. I hope he gets his act together, for his sake and for his family.
