Celtics Interested In Trading For Harrison Barnes

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Feb 12, 2021 6:16 pm

Harrison Barnes is on the radar of the Boston Celtics, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

The Celtics have a $28.5 million trade exception they created in the Gordon Hayward sign-and-trade with the Charlotte Hornets.

Barnes has a team-friendly deal that declines year-over-year ($22.2 million this season, $20.2 million next season and $18.3 million in 2022-23).

The Kings have given teams the impression they have no interest in trading Barnes before the deadline.

If they want out of that deal, this is their chance.
I wonder what they can get in return.

Barnes does everything ok and nothing truly great. He is good to have as a fourth option on your team. He is very consistent and a good team player.

Why is there always an article for "Celtics are interested in ______" or "Celtics almost traded for ______"

It's weird.

Why?
1) generates clicks because high % of fans either love or hate the Celtics
2) Danny and Zarren have a lot of media connections and can use them to meet their objectives.

I'm a sucker for these every time, so you're probably right. smh.

Recently we've always had surplus draft picks.
Now we have a large TPE.

And Danny has a reputation for being an active trader.

I love Barnes, I truly do.. but we need a damn elite point guard or big imho. Put a huge package together and bring home someone who's going to push this team over the hump.

I agree, which makes $20 million a bit of an overpay, but the declining deal makes it a little better.
Barnes has always struck me as wasted potential, he had/has all the physical tools be a superstar, he just hasn't been able to live up to the potential.
Don't get me wrong, he's still a good player, but that always seems to come to mind when I hear his name or watch him play is the the wasted potential.

I lived through Jeff Green on this team once. I don't think my heart could take Harrison Barnes on this team.
