Zion Williamson Leaves Door Open To Participate In Dunk Contest

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:58 pm

Zion Williamson was voted onto the All-Star team as a reserve and was noncommittal either way when asked if he might participate in the Slam Dunk contest.

“You know what, I don’t even know," said Williamson. "Who knows? That’s all I can say. Who knows? I might. You never know. But who knows?”

if hes up for it, id love to watch. But hes playing really hard out there, i wouldnt fault him for not wanting to lift 280 pounds off the ground at max effort a dozen times before he plays in an all star game.

We've seen tons of highlights to see Zion dunk -- participating in the dunk contest won't solidify anything ( will just add to the perception that he is simply a dunker ).

He should take the long-term view -- particularly health, emphasis on developing his game and refining his physique.

Zion is 6-7 / 284lbs -- that size / weight ratio is a recipe for disaster.

Ideally he should target an eventual weight of 240 - 250 if possible to ensure long term health.

Wishing him the very best to be the best version of himself.

The reason why the top players don't like to participate in the dunk contest has more to do with protecting their brand than getting hurt. That's the main reason why LeBron never participated in one. He was afraid of losing and getting embarrassed by a nobody like Gerald Green.

He should skip it. We've basically seen all the dunks people do before. Ya sure he might pull off one we haven't but its just not worth the risk. The league shouldn't even pressure him to participate.

I mean why is everyone acting like they're his manager and saying he shouldn't? As a fan this is what we want to see. It's about entertainment. Smarten up people.
