This will be followed by "Celtics nearly signed Drummond, but he changed his mind"

Danny played shooting guard position, he doesnt know a thing about big man talent and he refuses to learn it. Its been ongoing tradition since KG injury in 09. Danny ineptitude at signing decent athletic bigs cost them 2010 title when Lakers outrebounded them in game 6 & 7.

Its been tweeners, washed up vets or soft bigs ever since. Clearly that's not changing anytime soon, knowing they had a chance to get Turner for Hayward. The arrogance of this guy has turned him into dwade pump fake gif meme.

Tried for Gordon
Tried for Vucevic
Tried for "X", "Y", "Z"
Unless its bargain or straight out fleecing, they will "try"...

 It’s not like the report said he offered multiple firsts. Would it be more convenient for haters if he didn’t even try? I’m sure if he had a big man just drafted in the top ten like Chicago it may have been easier.

And honestly Celtics needed vuc a lot more as they are closer to contention. I don’t see Celtics having any legitimate chance to compete with Ainge there the way he is running the team. You’ve gotta be able to take a short term gain for a gamble at a long term loss when you are competing for a top spot. He’s stifling his team at the time he should be injecting them with talent

What was he supposed to add to the picks to top the Bulls offer?

Danny Ainge almost cured cancer and is close to a deal on finding hoffa’s resting place (it’s in Boston).

Do McMullan, Simmons and the rest of their street team understand that Boston has become the butt of their own joke?

Every deal of the last decade, we'll hear a leaked report of how Boston was "a finalist" or "almost there" for a desired player. Give it a rest, the spin control has gone stale.

Yes I’m sure he’s losing sleep that some Nets fan on a basketball board was offended that tried to make another trade. And what trade offer was leaked by Bill Simmons or Mac Mullen? :noway:

Good decision by Danny.
Why trade frps for a 31 year old center???
To pair with 22yo and 24yo wing and all stars?
No obvious value, his value will decline. Time lord value to increase.

AG more of a toss up but never going to be the top dawg here and Fournier gets the job done.

They're going with what sells - as do most news organizations. Keep that in mind w/ this RealGM headline.

Omg. When I heard that celtics traded for some other magic player I was going to make a snarky post about how Ainge “almost” had Vucevic but I got lazy. Lo’ and behold, just one more day and now that is the story LOL

A finalist? Did the Magic run this like an episode of the bachelor? Did Danny not get a rose?

Probably offered two first round picks plus smart. However those first round picks probably top 20 protected and coverts to second round picks. Celtics hinging bets on Williams as their center.

I highly doubt they even offered Smart. I think they offered the picks and probably a couple of their underwhelming draft picks from the last few seasons like G Williams, Nesmith and Langford. And Chicago had no problem beating that offer.

It’s the Gordon deal they should have been able to close. They wouldn’t have needed to send a huge contract back like the one Orlando took on with Harris.

Honestly seems like the C's have been afraid to make a big splash ever since assembling the Big 3

He's a 30 year old All Star in his prime. Good luck finding a younger player who fits that bill and is available via trade

I think the aura surrounding the Celtics treasure trove gave out years ago.

Ainge had a small window where the league was enamored with their picks.

Now, their just a bunch of 20th overall or worse filler assets.

The last thing the Celtics locker room needs is another disgruntled player.
