Jimmy Butler, Heat Had 'Very Testy Moments' During Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 21, 2021 7:36 pm

Jimmy Butler had an All-NBA caliber second season with the Miami Heat, but it had its ups and downs both in terms of him contracting COVID-19 and also some interpersonal issues with the team.

"I'm told there has been very, very testy moments behind the scenes between Jimmy and that coaching staff," reported Shams Charania.

The Heat had a 33-19 record with Butler in the lineup and just 7-13 without him.

Butler was acquired by the Heat in 2019 on a $142 million four-year,  sign-and-trade.

The heat took most of the season to start playing well. Tyler Herro was gifted a starting role and sucked. The center rotation was weak. They had not replaced contributions of Jae Crowder. I think it's absolutely correct for Jimmy to have "testy moments" with Heat management until they corrected these problems. Hasn't LeBron done this very thing, many times?

Heat fixed the problems by leaking story about Herro's commitment to basketball. Signing Ariza and Dedmon. And Jimmy has also influenced the players through Twitter, calling out Bam particularly to step up. The result is that Heat management filled the roster holes, and the team is playing great. Butler great leadership has absolutely worked so far.

WTF is wrong with having some “testy” moments anyway? Doesn’t that just mean that both sides/parties take this ish seriously? Wouldn’t it be bigger news of some hack wrote about how Jimmy or the Heat DGIF?

So Jimmy takes everyone to task and they end up performing better?

If Miami is fed up with that sort of leadership the Warriors are interested in taking him off their hands.

There's nothing wrong with it, but Jimmy has a history of alienating players on his own team.

I am confident Jimmy's leadership style would not alienate anyone on the Warriors.
