Kyrie Irving Says He Hopes 'We Can Keep It Strictly Basketball' For Boston Return

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed May 26, 2021 5:13 am

Kyrie Irving discussed the potential reaction he could receive from the TD Garden crowd for Game 3, saying that he hopes it doesn't cross the line.

The Nets, currently up 2-0 in the series, play the Celtics on Friday.

"I am just looking forward to competing with my teammates and hopefully, we can just keep it strictly basketball; there's no belligerence or racism going on -- subtle racism. People yelling s--- from the crowd, but even if it is, it's part of the nature of the game and we're just going to focus on what we can control," said Irving.

When asked if he heard racist comments aimed towards him at TD Garden, Irving responded that he "was not the only one that can attest to this."

The Celtics will be at 25% capacity for Game 3, then be at "near full capacity" for Game 4 on Sunday.

Complaining about racism before he even shows up in the arena? Poor Kyrie, having to deal with evil whitey yelling mean things to him while he makes 30 million dollars a year. What a privilege Kyrie has, being able to sit out games whenever he feels like it while the working man would be fired instantly.

Please stop this self righteous tool from winning another chip. Giannis and Joel, I'm looking at ya'll.

He has the option of not showing up for personal reasons. Why risk the emotional turmoil? BRK will cook BOS without him anyway. He is unnecessary this round.

So Kyrie was asked a "strictly basketball" question, and replied with a racism answer that no one mentioned.

Then proceeded to instruct everyone else to keep the entertainment about basketball and not racism.

Kyrie has never shown up for a playoff game in Boston, so why start now?

..... Considering the history of the Boston Celtics, that's a very ignorant statement. The idea of fans "throwing n-bombs and bananas" also reflects very poorly on you. Just sayin...

While it would be right up Boston fan's alley... I wouldn't wish that on anyone and I wouldn't blame the Nets in that instance for going into the crowd and punching every single Boston fan. Hell, the Celtics should be going into the stands and punching their own fans if that happens.
