Cavs Seen As 'Possible Destination' For CJ McCollum

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Jun 6, 2021 6:36 pm

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been brought up as a "possible destination" should the Portland Trail Blazers decide to trade CJ McCollum, according to Jabari Young of CNBC.

McCollum's three-year, $100 million extension kicks in next season.

The rumor comes after the Blazers fired head coach Terry Stotts on Friday, with rival teams reportedly monitoring Damian Lillard

Young also mentioned the Spurs, Clippers, and Heat as possibilities in various scenarios.

Cavs cant trade for him they dont have anything to trade except for point gaurds. Thats a bad trade for the blazers. why make a sideways trade. if you do that you should just keep cj

They're just saying that because McCollum is from Ohio. Like you said, Cavs have nothing to offer to begin with and also:

a) Cavs obviously in the middle of a rebuild
b) McCollum doesn't fit the Cavs timeline

CJ went to my high school in Canton and all, and I know he still has strong roots in Ohio. But there is virtually nothing the Cavs can offer. Kevin Love is next to worthless and no team would be fooled into thinking he can flip a switch back to his Timberwolves days, and even with LeBron he wasn’t all-star caliber. Sexton and Garland are descent but significant steps down from McCollum. It’d take a massive 3-4 team deal to get CJ in Cleveland and you’d expect he’d just be miserable here, hometown or not.
