Pat Riley Publicly Says He's Open To LeBron James Reunion With Heat

Pat Riley revealed this week in an interview that he would consider a reunion with LeBron James. James left the Miami Heat to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014.

“I would leave the key under the doormat if he would call me and let me know that he’s coming,” Riley said Friday in an interview on Dan Le Batard’s radio show. “I would do that, but I doubt very much that key…That key is rusted now.

“LeBron, look, he’s one of the greatest of all time, and for four years down here, if we want to go back and remember what those four years were like, it was four years in the Finals, four years of excitement, two world championships…It was the best time for the Heat. So I wish him nothing but the best, and if he ever wanted to come back, I’ll put a new shiny key under the mat.”

Riley later added that his words “will just get me fined for tampering” Adam Silver.

James cannot become a free agent until 2023.

Obviously it is and he’ll get fined probably but there was really no intention with it cause there is no possible impact to it. Is Lebron demanding a trade? No. Are the Lakers trading Lebron? No. Does Miami have anything the Lakers would want that the Heat would even be willing to.give up? No. Unless Lebron is replacing Riley as President in a few years, he’s not using that key ever.

The whole tampering thing is silly because most, if not all, organizations would sign LeBron if they could.

Riley is only stating the obvious, regardless of how both parties split.
