NBA Seeking Rule Changes To Restrict Unnatural Foul Seeking Jump Shots

The NBA's competition committee met Monday to further explore rule changes to restrict the unnatural motions surrounding jump shots that are widely considered to be foul seeking in nature.

The league wants to limit the ability of players such as James Harden, Luka Doncic and Trae Young to initiate contact and get to the free throw line.

The NBA and the competition committee will drill down on specific plays with the league's general manager next week to target examples that will be recommended for owners to vote to eliminate next season.

There is a belief that this type of play has contributed to the NBA slanting excessive toward the offense.

The changes are widely expected to be approved before Summer League in August, which would allow referees to implement those changes well before the preseason.

Players that intentionally jump into players coming around screens or jump back wards to initiate contact should be called for an offensive foul.

While you give credit where credit is due -- many players are turning into "superstars" ( emphasis on quotes ) by intentionally shoving themselves onto the defense. There is a fine line between being crafty and outright eliminating the ability for players to play any type of defense on these types of possessions - especially when the game is on the line.

That is a good start, but somehow feels like removing the most annoying symptom, but leaving the problem.
Now they need to follow up and stop sending """superstars""" (obvious emphasis on quotes) to the line every time someone exhales in their general direction and then stop not calling every time one of those in quotes slaps, pushes, hits, trips the oposing players (mainstream media calls it "excelent defense"), or every time they travel, double-dribble or carry.
An then we shall have basketball...

I mean isnt the answer already in the "article"?

Referees should look at who is initiation the contact. If the offensive player is initiating the contact then he should not be able to draw a foul with that. Should be a no call or even offensive foul then.

That isn't an Offensive Foul. It's incidental contact and no whistle.
