Zion Williamson's Family Members Want To See Him On Another Team

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Jun 17, 2021 3:48 pm

Certain family members of Zion Williamson want to see him on another team, sources tell The Athletic. The New Orleans Pelicans have missed the playoffs in each of Williamson's first two seasons in the NBA and the team will have a third head coach three years.

Sources from around the league have "pointed to the Pelicans as a heap of dysfunction."

Williamson's family has expressed thinly veiled unhappiness with the Pelicans and there are questions whether those have become his own. Williamson's family members voiced displeasure with Stan Van Gundy, who they thought was too rigid and demanding as head coach. They also felt like the organization did not live up to the standard for a star like Williamson.

Williamson remains focused on basketball and helping the Pelicans win next season.

Williamson was also irritated by the decision to trade J.J. Redick.

His coach demanded too much of him? What would they say if he was an Amazon employee who’s boss tracks their every move and they have to pee in bottles for a few bucks over minimum wage?

They should focus on making sure Zion keeps his weight down and can play the majority of every season. How you gonna complain when this dude was hurt most of his rookie year and missed a ton of games this year with injuries. Work on being able to play at a high level most of the season before you start criticizing a coach that demands excellence. At the same time the Pelicans aren't the best market for a superstar but Zion won't be a true superstar until he can prove he can be healthy most of the time. I guess what i'm trying to say is, he too fat bro.

I'm sure the family members of every player have a wide variety of opinions.

Just goes to show - when you hire the wrong person, the snowball turns into an Avalanche.

David Griffin was clearly not the right choice to lead this franchise.

While he did a great job in amassing talent in the AD trade -- everything else is falling apart a part.

* Coach fired in year 1 of a 4 year contract
* Superstar rookie reportedly dis-enfranchised with the direction of the team
* Friction with other young players

Will be an interesting offseason.

This is probably Zion himself relaying his thoughts to his family, he might sign a shorter contract if things remain the same

I mean doesn't seem like a huge problem for the Saints who have plenty of top tier players that get plenty of acknowledgement... maybe it's because they were winning, setting records, and actually on the field doing their thing like you said.

Zion's injury concerns were actually why I had him behind RJ Barrett and Ja Morant in that draft. I thought he was by far the best player and would make an immediate impact but I wasn't sure if he would hold up his rookie contract without suffering a career ending injury.

I think the Redick trade could have been damaging. Portrays the franchise as one with a "shut up and dribble" mentality towards its players.

Star like Williamson? He is good, but not at a level who can make demands like that. Ingram is better player than him hands down. If he is a star, he should lead his team to playoffs next year, like Luka and Trea did in their 3rd year.

Imagine if NO kept AD and traded for Chris Paul back instead in 2019.

Holiday + Paul + AD + Zion, or deal Holiday for a wing.

Oh no.. Did mean ol' Stan raise his voice... What a bunch of entitled pansy bitches.... Here comes another one forcing their way to one of the LA teams to proclaim their greatness. Its never going to change. Once you start putting high school boys on these pedestals looking down on everyone else you're pretty much creating this type of scenario. Goddam its year TWO and he's already getting coaches fired, and trying to inject himself into roster decisions.

Ummm... Market can help with ultimate success, but market has very little to do with ultimate failure. It's really more about ownership than anything else. How many rings do the Lakers have since the Clips have shared their venue?

And Vegas is a terrible idea that we will get to see fail soon. There will be no home court. They will fill the stadium with tourists.Opposing fans that like to gamble will use it as an excuse to go to Vegas. Casinos will comp tickets to high rollers leaving empty seats. Great idea for an ownership group but bad for basketball. They will never win, and I'm pretty sure that winning wouldn't be on the ownership's list of priorities. Vegas exists for one thing and one thing only... Take money from suckas!
