Kings 'Highly Unlikely' To Trade De'Aaron Fox

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jul 14, 2021 1:45 pm

The Sacramento Kings are "highly unlikely" to trade De'Aaron Fox this offseason, sources tell the Sacramento Bee.

Marc Stein of Substack reported this week that the Kings have interest in trading for Ben Simmons. The Kings would likely be willing to offer the Philadelphia 76ers a package of Buddy Hield, Marvin Bagley III and multiple first round picks. The 76ers likely wouldn't be interested in a package from the Kings unless it included either Fox or Tyrese Haliburton.

Fox signed a five-year, $163 million extension with the Kings during the 2020 offseason. Fox averaged 25.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 7.2 assists in 35.1 minutes per game last season.

Thank you!

That's exactly what I was saying. Don't love Simmons, but if you are going to do it, its around Buddy/Bagley/Picks (said this yesterday on the Kings board). Not including Fox/Hali for him.

no reason to acquire Simmons when you literally already have one of the best young PGs in the game who needs the ball in his hands. And to trade Fox for him would be peak SAC.

Put a team of shooters around Simmons bet he takes the team further than fox.

Put a competent team around Fox before you say that.

But you said it best. Simmons needs the perfect team around him, and even then hes not going to get there. Why any team would want to build around such a flawed player is beyond me.

At age 23 De'Aaron Fox is putting up staggering numbers in just his 4th year -- he is a keeper :

25.2ppg 7.2apg 3.5rpg 1.5 spg -- incredible considering he has poor / limited range and is a poor free throw shooter.

career 32% three / 71% free throw for his career

If he purely focuses on improving his shooting mechanics from long distance and the free throw line he can legitimately become a 30+ppg scorer

Does that pretty much sum up who the impact player is?

Sixers 42-16 this season with Simmons 7-8 without Simmons. Simmons is the glue, Embiid is the flashy ribbon.

Regular season stat padding is the definition of a flashy ribbon. A hobbling, one legged Embiid had a bigger impact in the playoffs than the "please don't make me shoot princess Ben".

Simmons is the definition of regular season guy, everyone knows Embiid is the real prize on your team. I'm not sure if you even believe what you wrote.
