Heat, Kings, Knicks, 76ers 'Most Aggressive' In Pursuing Damian Lillard Trade

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jul 20, 2021 12:36 pm

The Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers have recently been the "most aggressive suitors" for a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers for Damian Lillard.

Lillard has said he expects to remain with the Blazers next season, but he has become clear in his desire for more urgency in their efforts to contend for a title.

Should Portland eventually decide to trade Lillard, executives in the NBA expect the Blazers to receive a return for Lillard comparable to what the Brooklyn Nets sent the Rockets for Harden. Lillard is signed for four more seasons at $176 million total.

What are the Kings doing? Heat have no assets. Knicks though, it seems like a perfect Knicks move.

76ers give up Simmons, Maxey and a first...might be the best deal for both teams.

Lakers offering Dennis (sign and trade) kuzma and tht is better than this deal.. With that Blazers still would have a chance to reach the playoff..

I'm sure Precious would have to be included.

If I am Portland I would definitely push for a little bit more as well such as Thybulle.

I hope we trade him, it's time to start looking for the future and dame deserves to try and contend somewhere.

We're not trading him to the Lakers. Also I don't think we should be worried about playoffs it's time for the rebuild.

I could see the Kings making this move for sure. They have more assets to give up than any of the other teams listed. Portland isn't trading him for Ben Simmons let's be real. The Kings could send Fox and Bagley and bring Lillard home to Northern Cali/Bay Area, make their team relevant again and probably make the playoffs. For Portland it would jumpstart their rebuild with 2 promising young players, 1 already an established star and 1 that wants out of Sacramento. I think Fox for Lillard straight up would be fair but we know that the Kings front office has no idea how to run a basketball team. They'll probably over pay. They could try to make a move for someone like Towns as well and go all in right now.

Ok so Kings will have a team built around Lillard, Kyle Anderson, J.V, deadly

The whole point of this is for Dame to compete for a champioinship, Why in the hell would he want to play for the Kings???

What Dame wants is irrelevant. POR will take the best deal for themselves. I don't remember Kawhi wanting to go to TOR.

But POR could do far better than described above.

POR might trade Dame to LAL if they had anything to offer. Schroeder and Kuzma doesn't get them CJ.

You just mentioned 2 players that play for the Grizzlies, not the Kings  all things aside, Portland is going to take the best deal they can get. They aren't going to accommodate Lillard and trade him to a contender and get a bag of chips back. They don't have to trade him at all.

What is your definition of far better? Of course there would be picks involved. Hell the Kings might even throw in Haliburton I wouldn't be surprised. Their front office is inept. Other than Boston sending Jaylen Brown to Portland I can't think of many better deals Portland could get. Philly has nothing. Miami has nothing. Knicks have nothing. Who else is gonna give them a young player as good as De'Aaron Fox?

I think it would take more than that, but of the comments in this thread with packages, it is the only one that is even close.
