Russell Westbrook Seeks Trade As Wizards, Lakers Discuss Deal

The Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards are engaged in trade talks involving Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook would like a trade from the Wizards and the Lakers are his preferred destination.

Good deal on paper but i doubt there’s enough ball to go around with westbrook being a mega ball hog playing next to 2 high usage players

If this all it takes to get Westbrook than hell yes!

Hell throw them an extra pick if need

We than can get C.Anthony and maybe Howard if we have the $$$

Are you doubting what LeBron does as a general manager? Westbrook isn't 27 anymore. Sure he will avg a triple double. Give you 20+ points. But he's not going to be what you think on this lakers team. It's a LeBron run team. And Davis has already tooken half of Brons touches. If anything rus gets in Davis way. 3 ball dominate players. At least the nets know kd is there go to guy. Harden knows his role and kyrie accepted 3rd guy. I think lakers defeat themselves. But the scary part is watch they trade rus for Chris paul

Westbrook doesn't have much value anymore though. He was last traded for a zombie John Wall's ridiculous contract.

The Kings would be stupid to trade Hield for the same 3 players. Hield is much more useful at this stage, even though Westbrook has a much bigger name.

Would rather get Hield and save one of those players on the team. Westbrook doesn't help shooting issues at all. Does add another driver to the paint though which would be awesome.

This was my thought, too. None of them are great players, but that's three decent role players [plus a pick] for a former superstar who doesn't know how to play any other way [and who's turning 33 pretty much the second the season starts]. And other than providing a playmaker for the 13-16 mpg that Bron sits, he doesn't really fill any of the gaps that the Lakers needed filled, either.

My prediction: Watch it go thru, watch fans say "yay!" (see this thread).....and then watch the Lakers not improve at all.

I can totally get why non-Laker fans look at this trade and scoff...

Westbrook is old, he's finished, he's washed up, he couldn't win it all with Hardin or Beal..

I get it, really...

But when you remove KCP and add Westbrook into the staring line-up, it's an IMPROVEMENT no matter how you want to skew things...

Lakers are getting a guy who averaged a triple-double all year a few seasons ago!

And they gave up two guys they signed as FA's and two LATE first round picks, not a steep price to pay, for a guy that brings a gritty die-hard mentality every game.

The Lakers are thin depth-wise RIGHT-NOW, but Rob has been pulling rabbits out of his hat the last few years and I'm sure you'll see more magic from him before the preseason hits..

So go ahead and hate, go ahead and laugh, but deep down, YOU KNOW this makes the Lakers the FAVORED Team in the West next season...
