With a simple sign and trade involving matching salaries I'd presume

If you factor in taxes this maybe Lowry's biggest contract in pure dollars in his entire career. Florida has no state income tax and much lower Federal taxes than Canada. Lowry's largest contract prior to this was his previous one with the Raptors for 3 years $100m where he paid more in taxes. This contract in my opinion at best is one year too long. I think Lowry will be decent his first season and the playoffs for the first two. However everything after that first season and even a long first playoff run is a pure gamble. Heat also gave up Dragic and a young player in the sign and trade to Toronto to make this happen. Before that Heat gave up 2 unprotected first rounders to the Suns to get Dragic a few seasons ago. Heat literally empty the cupboards for hail mary trades that never end well all they got is one finals appearance in the bubble.
