Warriors, Nets Interested In Paul Millsap

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Aug 21, 2021 7:24 pm

The Golden State Warriors and Brooklyn Nets are both rumored to be interested in signing Paul Millsap. The veteran big man is an unrestricted free agent after playing the last four seasons with the Denver Nuggets.

Millsap joined Denver in 2017 after four seasons with the Atlanta Hawks. Millsap was an All-Star for all four years with the Hawks.

In 2020-21, Millsap averaged 8.9 points and 4.7 in 56 games (36 starts) with the Nuggets. Millsap has indicated he intents to play a 16th NBA season and would like to land with a Finals contender.

Have always thought that GSW would be a good fit for him even though I'd love to have him with the Lakers.

I would love him in Brooklyn. Him, Blake and James would make a versatile, tough veteran presence in the frontcourt to complement Kevin.

He wants to sign with a finals contender so he is considering the Warriors? They aren’t sniffing the finals anytime soon again.

So is Kawhi, but money is a factor.

I love Uncle Jeffy, Denver is going to be very pleased if Mahone deploys him correctly. We could not afford to keep him at his free market rate, and at had bigger needs to address elsewhere. We could only have offered the MLE, which is less than he got from the Nuggets. And I prefer Mills over Jeff for our needs.

For the money, Millsap is a fine replacement, along with fellow bargain basement treasure James Johnson. Neither are as good as Green, but we are already over $80mil into the luxury tax. Provided decent health, we don't need a ton of production behind Durant. We just need tough, defensive rule players, and Paul can play that role.
