Pacers Will Look To Trade Jeremy Lamb This Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Aug 24, 2021 1:15 pm

The Indiana Pacers have a bit of a logjam with wings and it looks like Jeremy Lamb will be the odd man out. The Pacers will reportedly look to trade Lamb once he proves he is fully healthy from a torn ACL suffered in 2020. Lamb averaged 10.1 points per game in the 36 games he played after returning from the injury in late-January.

The Los Angeles Lakers and one of Lamb's former team, the Charlotte Hornets, have both expressed interest. The challenge for the Lakers will come in matching salary in a trade for Lamb and his $10.5 million salary.

Indiana hasn't made many changes to their roster this offseason. They lost forward Doug McDermott and added wings in veteran Torrey Craig and rookie Chris Duarte. The addition of Craig and Duarte leaves the Pacers with an abundance of wing options. They join starters Caris LeVert and TJ Warren, and backups Justin Holiday and Edmond Sumner. That has Lamb available on the trade market.

I don't see any way the Lakers can get him they don't have matching salary. THT can't be traded until Jan 14 and Nunn can't until Dec 14. I don't think they would swap THT for him. They are already $16 million in the tax.

The Pacers didn't make any off season moves because there were no options that made them better.

KP needs to swap him for an expiring 4.

And do what? Trade newcomers like Warren, Brogdon and LaVert. If Carlisle favors the current starting unit (Brogdon, LaVert, Warren, Sabonis, Turner) then that’s all that matters. No need to make moves just for the fun of it.

Lakers have enough guards already and yeah salary wouldn't be able to work either.

Yeah, plus last year Warren barely played and it's definiely possible he becomes a big difference maker (if he returns to bubble TJ). And Levert could also find a rhythm and be a surprise player this year too, and Duarte should play a role immediately too. Their team is definitely higher upside this year than what they showed last year, and I don't think there was a pressing need to shake things up before seeing what this unit can do with a season together. Brogdon/Warren/Levert/Sabonis/Turner could be a dangerous starting 5.
