Kevin Love, Cavaliers Making Progress On Buyout

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Aug 27, 2021 9:13 pm

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Kevin Love are making progress toward a buyout. Love has two seasons and $60 million remaining on his contract extension signed shortly after the departure of LeBron James in 2018.

The buyout is not close to a done deal and talks could still fall apart, according to a source.

Love has been hampered by injuries, a general decline in his performance, and intermittent attitude issues since signing his extension.

The Cavaliers acquired Lauri Markkanen in a sign-and-trade with the Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazers on Friday, which will further limit any available minute for Love.

Warriors or Knicks… he can thrive as a back-up power forward at 20-25 minutes per game.

The Bulls would actually be a good fit for him or Suns.

The Lakers can use another big man, but I would go after a younger player to give them a try alongside Howard and Gasol.

I guess Love is 32 so not that old, but injure prone. I would take Cousins over Love. He had some great minutes for the Clippers last year in the playoffs. Still want a younger player though.

Jeze, well I guess both are old enough to be on this Laker team.

All these players give up very little when you combine buyouts PLUS add back in their new contract with their new team.

Just look at the history.

How much did Blake griffin lose? Very little.
Carmelo lost nothing.
Dwade bulls buyout gave up a little

It’s a ton of money Cleveland is losing if they are gonna to give love 50 of 60 million to go aware. I think ownership won’t do it. They may try to wait further along in the season to lesson the buyout.

Love is an “old 32 almost 33 year old” with his mental problems. I don’t know how much drive he has left.

Anyone that does is a fool.....dude needs to get his mind right....he has some mental issues that clearly supersede basketball.

I would sit back at the end of the bench and enjoy watching nba games in floor seats while making 30 mil a year- like 365,800 to sit on the bench per game...why not?

Per Woj, Kevin Love has no interest in a buyout.
