ESPN parted ways with Paul Pierce shortly after an Instagram Live clip went viral in April.

Pierce and ESPN were already strained as he hated the travel and network executives didn't think he was working hard enough.

“I was done with them, anyway,” said Pierce. “It wasn’t a great fit. There’s a lot of stuff over there that you can’t say. And you have to talk about LeBron [James] all the time.”

Pierce was hired by ESPN in 2017 immediately after he retired as a player. Pierce was an in-studio analyst on NBA Countdown and also frequently appeared on The Jump with Rachel Nichols. ESPN has since canceled The Jump and have effectively parted ways with Nichols.

Let's keep it real now. Paul Pierce screwed himself over. Nobody but him. But saying ESPN is LeBron central is a fact. All they do is over hype him up. That's the only reason this goat debate started to begin with. There the engine behind the deeds. Don't act like it's the entire NBA saying anything like this. ESPN has it set up to over hype LeBron James. Pierce just said what everyone else already known for ages.

of all the empty commentators on espn, paul pierce was by far the emptiest. hearing him speak was 100% the most useless experience i’ve ever had in life. in a way, paul pierce showed me how dumb sports talk and all these predictions/opinions really are. thank you paul pierce for being so bad at giving insight that i learned to spend my time doing other things

Facts,

The hate for Paul Pierce is so strong its sad lol. He said no lies. Pierce has made over $200 million during his playing days. He was making 3 million riding the bench in LA as a vet. If you think that 1.5 million annually from ESPN really does anything to him, think again.

KOBE just passed. So it was heavy around the sports world. One round table they asked each commentator for a special moment or memory of Kobe. One guy mentions a Shaq and Kobe moment. One guy mentioned Kobes Life after basketball. Jalen Rose says when Kobe scored 81, that was a special memory of Kobe. It came to Paul Pierces opportunity to remember Kobe, they all look at him and he says...uhhhh, yeah, yeah, what he said.

One is paid 1.5 Million on these programs to give in depth analysis. Or any type of analysis. The Kobe analysis opportunity, was an easy homerun to hit, with many years to choose from. But it was indicative of his analytical abilities overall. He has nothing to offer.
