John Wall and the Houston Rockets have begun to work together on a trade and he won't appear in any games with the team in the interim.

Wall is entering his second season with the Rockets.

There are no buyout plans on the two years and $91.7 million remaining on his contract.

Ya but you're going to need another team to work with and that's just probably not happening.

Thoughts?

All 3 suck and are not worth the contracts, not even a little bit.

No one is touching Wall.

Rockets will be hard pressed to get value on such a massive contract.

Only a few deals seam plausible :

* Cavs ship Kevin Love / Rubio for Wall / Nwaba

* Raptors ship Dragic / OG / Birch for Wall + future draft pick(s)

* Magic ship Garry Harris / Fultz / Robin Lopez / M. Carter Williams for Wall + future draft pick(s)

Dang! OG for John Wall? OG alone has more value on the trade market then John Wall

Good luck. I'm sure the team will work on that, but I doubt they are giving up assets in the process. Can't think of any teams that would make that sort of trade without compensation.

That Toronto trade is really, really bad.

If I’m Toronto I’m sure as hell not doing that.

I'd say Simmons for Wall... but HOU already made it clear they aren't interested in Simmons.
Westbrook for Wall... wait, HOU just got off of Westbrook.
Porzingus for Wall... why would DAL want Wall?
Love
Russell

I'm running out of egregiously bad contracts to trade him for.... so it's Wall and 3 picks into space to OKC.

I wouldn't rule Cleveland out. They've been making some odd deals and certainly want to move Love.

How does John Wall "work" to get himself traded? This is all on HOU trying to beg the other 29 teams in the NBA to trade for Wall's albatross contract. All in all, HOU will be forced to buy-out his contract. John better not settle for anything less than $80MM settlement. :D

His agent could make an agreement to buy-out his last year before the trade. It would have to be backdoor deal, still pretty unlikely to work-out this summer.

Wall can't give back $46M. He likely won't make that up if he plays until he's 40. If he just sticks it out for 2 years he can be a free agent at 33 and go wherever he chooses.

The article states that Wall is at a different stage, meaning the Rockets respect the fact that Wall wants to win now.

But yeah, we all know that Fertitta could care less that Wall wants to win now. But then again, he did care enough for PJ etc.

I doubt they will find any contending team willing to make a trade to gut their roster to match salaries. He also is not in the Rockets future. Keeping him would only hurt their chances to develop their young players.

Honestly, I was surprised they traded Westbrook for Wall since Russ still had value.

In the end I only see 2 options, they either trade him to a team where they have to give up other assets on top or they buy him out. I just don't see a market for him otherwise. Most playoff teams, especially contenders won't want to match salaries. Maybe Simmons if the Sixers really get terrible offers. Could be a very high risk with a very low chance of getting a healthy all-star Wall in return.
