Eric Gordon Open To Trade From Rockets

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Sep 17, 2021 2:46 pm

Eric Gordon has not approached the Houston Rockets to ask for a trade, but he's open to moving to a more favorable situation as the franchise continues their rebuild.

The Rockets have communicated to Gordon and his camp that they would love for him to stay.

“They always know, and it’s definitely not easy for my position,” Gordon tells Kelly Iko of The Athletic about Houston understanding how he feels. “But my ultimate goal is to just go out there and play, help, show that I’m healthy and gravitate to these guys to get better.”

Gordon was part of the group that took a pre-camp trip down to the Bahamas.

Gordon has two years and approximately $37 million remaining on his contract. Gordon signed a four-year, $76 million extension with the Rockets during the 2019 offseason.

Not quite sure I get the story.

It doesn't sound like Gordon is interested in being traded. So, where is the story? And why would you put the idea of him being traded out there?

If the Rockets want him to stay, and he wants to stay, I'd like for him to stay as well. He sounds like one of the few mentally healthy players who realize that being better than other people isn't actually what the goal should be.

He’s not asking out but he’s putting it out there he wouldn’t mind a trade if they can find one. Team just loaded up on guards and now paying Wall to stay home so it’s not much of a reach that he would prefer a competitive team. Im guessing he would prefer a playoff team but if nothing comes up he will play it out.

What an awful contract.

Does he need to be open to a trade for it to happen? Would his being opposed to a trade prevent it? What are we talking about?

Looks like a slow news day. Looks like he likes staying with the Rockets and help the young players and is also fine with them trading him if they want to trade him. He's fine either way. In other news, there will be a sunrise and sunset today.

No, he isn't. The story states Gordon said he wants to stay and contribute to the current team: “But my ultimate goal is to . . . gravitate to these guys to get better.”

Where do you see that ? Is it in the actual article because the notes from what I’m reading seem to make it clear he’s not asking out but he wouldn’t be against staying.

The rockets want him to stay but he’s open to a trade if it happens. I assume the “difficult for my position” is being a older vet on a rebuilding team while wanting to be competitive

It’s in the article, this excerpt just picked juicy story bits for clicks.

“ Will his fate be the same as Wall’s? Sources with knowledge of Gordon’s thinking say while Gordon hasn’t approached management to ask for a trade, he’s open to moving to a more favorable situation. In meetings between his representation and Houston this offseason, the Rockets communicated they would love to have Gordon stay.

“They always know, and it’s definitely not easy for my position,” Gordon says about Houston understanding how he feels. “But my ultimate goal is to just go out there and play, help, show that I’m healthy and gravitate to these guys to get better.”

But Gordon is a consummate professional. He’s going to put his head down, prepare for the season and do the role that’s asked of him. He was part of the group that took a pre-camp trip down to the Bahamas (Wall was not present, according to sources). The Rockets have gone there in previous seasons as a means to build chemistry and lay the groundwork for a grueling season. The stakes are a bit different now, but the goal remains the same.”

Rockets. If they didn't want Simmons for Harden, I don't see this changing their minds.

It would be best if he just does a buyout and signs with a contender.
