Warriors Give Klay Thompson No. 77 Practice Jersey After 75th Anniversary Snub

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Oct 25, 2021 2:44 am

Klay Thompson had a strong reaction to being left off the NBA's 75th anniversary team, which led to his teammates poking fun at him by giving him a No. 77 jersey in his locker.

"77!" Thompson said. "Best player of all time, baby!"

"Get the new jersey!" Stephen Curry said with a laugh. "New jersey alert!"

Thompson missed the last two seasons due to injuries.

"I didn't know what it meant, at first," Steve Kerr said after practice. "And then somebody explained it. I thought that was quite, quite funny."

If he’s going to wear that, he’d better come back 100%. He was the biggest snub from that list, but still …

"Snub".

It's not clear he's in the top 100. Dozens of HOFs were left off. But poor Klay has to be comforted for the "snub" of being left off the list after having been out of the league for years?

He is very clearly Top 100 to anyone w/ an elementary basketball acumen, but go off.

Was he better than TMac? Grant Hill? Webber? Bosh? Dwight Howard? Pau Gasol? Vince Carter? Richmond? Dumars? Alex English? Bernard King? What about guys like Blake Griffin? Or multiple time DPOYs like Dikembe? Was he more important than Koooky Kyrie?
and just etc. Yao? Boogie? What about the former MVPs left off?

Klay MAY be top 100. He's got his own case. But he's always been a sidekick, and you can get out close to 90 guys before his case looks that much better than competitors.

If he thinks he was snubbed, which player on the list does he think should be removed for him and where does he think he fits?

Steve Kerr thinks both Klay and Draymond should be on the list. Again, who does he think should be removed for them?

I wish a reporter would ask them these questions...

You just listed Boogie and think you should be taken seriously. (And only listed HALF the players needed to get to 100). Thank you for your contrarian contribution.

(Scottie Pippen was a sidekick. Lots of players on the 75 were. Including most of the ones you just listed. Joe Dumars??? Lol don't make me laugh).
