New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson has missed the start of the 2021-22 season as he recovers from a broken foot suffered over the summer. The Pelicans have said Williamson is progressing and will have another set of scans on his foot next week.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN says Williamson is "working hard and putting in the sweat equity" as he tries to get back on the court. But that Williamson is still "weeks away" from getting back into full practices. That would likely put Williamson's return to game action as some point in December.

In two-plus seasons, Williamson has appeared in only 85 games. He's been electric in those games, as he's averaged 25.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. The Pelicans have gotten off to an NBA-worst 1-12 start without their star big man.

Trying to keep their fan base hopes up, Griffin is as shady as they come. Zion is most likely out for the year, it takes months to heal from a fracture and more months to condition his body, shed weight and return to basketball activities.

December of what year?

Just sit him out the whole year and let him focus on conditioning and diet. NO is going no anywhere anyway.

David Griffin and the Pelicans should be fined heavily by the league and possibly even lose their first round draft pick for failing to disclose Zion's real injury to the public. If people are going to bet millions of dollars on your league you can't be withholding information about a serious injury like that. Not to mention season ticket holders and those who buy tickets in advance to games get the shaft when they realize they will be seeing a glorified G-League team instead of a team led by one of the most exciting young players in the NBA.

And to top it all off the Pelicans will now milk this for as long as possible to ensure a bottom 3 record in the league, which is blatant tanking. What a joke of the league the NBA has become between this garbage and forcing their players to be inoculated or otherwise lose hundreds of millions of dollars.
