Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash said he does keep in touch with Kyrie Irving. However, Nash said he and the exiled guard don't really talk about basketball.
Due to a New York City mandate that resident performers must be vaccinated to enter large indoor venues, Irving has not played in a game this season. Irving has been outspoken that vaccination statuses are a personal and private decision. There was a point where it looked like the Nets star would join the team for road games, but Brooklyn shut that down before the season started.
Despite Irving's absence, Nash described his team as "loaded". Nash also said Kevin Durant has equaled his playing form from before his Achilles' tear.

I don't understand why any team would want Kyrie on their roster. The vaccination thing aside, I don't remember a player who randomly takes the time off that he does or takes the mental health sabbaticals that he does. What's best for the team is never a consideration, its always what's best for Kyrie. I'd never want a guy like that on my team.

how are all these vaccinated athletes still getting and spreading covid? it's almost like it doesn't matter whether you have it or not... get your boosters! keep wearing those porous pieces of fabric while the entire arena behind you doesn't have them on. i'm sure that will do the trick. this is all so well thought out and logical, it is truly a wonder there is still even a virus. i actually don't like getting colds too, shoot me up fauci, it's been working so well! just like polio right? like measles? like smallpox? but i thought we "eradicated" them. ugh its starting to feel like vaccines don't actually work.

It doesn't prevent, it reduces severity and rates of transmission. A month ago my state, Victoria (Australia), was in full lockdown with rising daily case numbers day after day. Since then we've hit 90% double dose, ended lockdown and daily new cases have halved and are in decline.
Eradication would be great, it doesn't seem to be on the cards right now. That would require more time and buy in. In the meantime risk reduction is allowing a little bit more normalcy and most importantly less harm and death.
