John Wall, Rockets To Discuss Him Returning To Play

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Nov 27, 2021 8:54 pm

Houston Rockets guard John Wall has yet to take the floor the season. That may be about to change, as Wall has told the Rockets he wants to play. Wall and General Manager Rafael Stone will continue to talk about how they can get the guard on the court.

Wall and Houston had mutually agreed before the season started that he wouldn't play while the team tried to find a trade for him. Wall is owed $44.3 million for 2021-22 and he has a player option for $47.4 million for 2022-23. That's made finding a trade partner nearly impossible for the Rockets.

In recent days, Wall has been active on social media saying he wants to play. Assuming an agreement that can be made where Wall plays, but Houston still features their young, long-term prospects, the former All-Star point guard may soon get his wish.

So one of two things happened either the Rockets found a trade partner for Wall but want to see him play first or and most likely someone in the Rockets front office got a brain and realized how dumb it was to let Wall sit at home for two years making almost a $100 million while the team on the court plays like a G League team and realized if it continues a lot of people will be looking for new jobs in the offseason.

How to get him on the court? Gee, I don't know . . . maybe take D. J. Augustin's minutes?

NBA teams have no choice but to pay a minimum overall salary. John Wall is required to meet that commitment. Thus, his salary means nothing to the Rockets.

The Rockets and Wall agreed before the season to have him stay home and get paid while the team tries to find a trade so he isn’t violating any terms of contract and the contract counts against the Rockets cap

Wall for Tobias Harris.....
Sixers want a PG and Rockets get a Tank Commander for the next year or 2.

him talking to the GM about playing time is kinda ridiculous. the front office cant have that level of control over what a coach is doing, then there also be reports about the coach's job security. No wonder harden bounced.

I was going to say this too. He makes too much money but so what. He's on your team, has talent, healthy, under contract. Better PG than what you have. How do you not play him from the start of the season?

Such an upside down world.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

The coach is actually set up to fail...dreaming of boogie harden and Wall ....ended with immature Kevin P and a bunch of raw talent and upside for the NEXT coach to manage when they age into their skills
