Multiple Members Of Cavaliers Organization Are Fans Of Caris LeVert

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Dec 9, 2021 1:45 pm

The Indiana Pacers are reportedly open to dealing wing Caris LeVert. They might only need to look at division-mates the Cleveland Cavaliers to find a trade partner.

Multiple members of the Cavs organization are reportedly fans of LeVert. Cleveland also has tradable salaries, as well as a need for an offensive creator.

The Cavs have a need for an on-ball creator after losing Collin Sexton to a knee injury. Sexton is likely to be out for the remainder of this season. The fourth-year guard is also set to be a restricted free agent in July.

Acquiring LeVert, and the two seasons and $36.3 million left on his contract, could be a multi-year solution for Cleveland. The Cavaliers have been one of the surprise teams this season with a 14-12 record. LeVert would aid in a playoff push this year, while giving the Cavs a solid rotation player for the 2022-23 season as well.

I think that would be something the Pacers would consider but I'd like to think that they could get a better fitting piece or picks that would help expedite a rebuild of sorts. On the side of the equation, I think Caris would be a great fit alongside the young talent on the Cavs. Id love to see Garland in a Pacers jersey but that's likely a pipedream when talking Caris.

I doubt it, given the RFA status and how much money Sexton reportedly wants.

My guess would be that it would either be salaries pieced together as filler plus pick(s), or Markkanen once he's tradeable.

Markannen is owed a lot more money than Levert--Levert has one more year after this and Lauri has 3 more, all around $17m per season. Not sure if that's a rebuilding move, seems like it just makes you a little worse and complicates your balance sheet.

Sexton or a bunch of guys they dont even play themselves. Also Markannen and Rubio are potential candidates. Rubio is doing great but his age dont fit the schedule of the cavs and thier young roster i guess and they havent committed to keeping him

LeVert is one of the most inefficient players in the league. For IND it would be addition by subtraction. Maybe something around Cedi?

Sexton and Love for Levert and Sabonis.
The Pacers get a good player for next year and salary relief in a year if they want to, and also a better bit alongside Turner.

The Cavs get a third big who could share the court with Mobley, with Allen or play center with Markannen as a PF.
And Levert, who offers a guard instead of Osman or the other guy who is more of a forward.

The guy hasn't even been in Indiana for 12 months.

Either way, Pacers are not "Blowing the team Up". They're going to make a move for a star. I think their rumors yesterday are to say, no Pacer player is above being traded, but these guys are not going to bottom out. They can't afford to not be relevant, it's to small a market, they need to draw fans.

As for LeVert, he's good but I bet he could be used in a package deal that get's Indiana in a better situation. There's not a fire sale happening here.

He can’t shoot. Why wouldn’t you look for better alternatives?

Sabonis for Ben Simmons would be a good start for Indiana. They would likely need to throw in some future first round picks to pick up the later tho.

Your **** crazy if you think the Pacers are shipping Domas out for a guy that's incapacitated to a point that he isn't even playing ball. Attaching first picks on top it?! Nothing short of delusional.

I mean ask me a few months back before we all learned who Ben Simmons really is and I say, yeah do it! The fit of Simmons + Turner would be really intriguing, both offensively and defensivley. But now? We don't trade our best player for someone who would likely never play for the Pacers and even if he did you never can be sure when his next "bad character move" happens.

Too bad Sexton is certainly out for the season, because it would have been interesting to follow a trade like this :
- Sexton has the worst NET rating of any player with a bit of playing time in CLE
- LeVert has the best NET rating for IND

They don't play the same way, so it can turn out to be a good trade, but based on team numbers, I don't see any reason for IND to make a trade like that

IND may have starters with injury problems, but they performing : 7th best starters in the league in Efficiency difference.
Injuries and their bench production are the problem. Don't see how they can improve that by trading LeVert, and Sabonis or Turner, except trading one of last two for two good bench players... ?

For CLE, if IND propose this swap, they should signed ASAP ;-)

I've seen a number of fans that thought along those same lines but many would actually still support that trade now oddly enough. I personally have had no interest in Ben prior to all this for a number of other reasons such as his penchant for improving his celeb game rather than his court game. No amount of defense is worth the problems he presents on the other end of the court IMO. For the way the game is rapidly changing, I see Ben continuing struggling to adapt. Spacing, range, and efficiency are a must and Ben struggles with and/or hampers it all.
