Rockets Face Disciplinary Action With Kevin Porter Jr, Christian Wood

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Jan 2, 2022 1:30 pm

The Houston Rockets started their game on Saturday without Christian Wood. They finished the game without Wood and Kevin Porter Jr, with the latter leaving the arena at halftime.

During a heated halftime discussion between Porter and assistant coach John Lucas, Porter became angry. Lucas had revisited an issue that upset Porter during the first half of the Rockets loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Porter reportedly threw an object before getting into his car and leaving the arena at halftime. The Rockets said that Porter was dealing with a thigh bruise that kept him from playing after the break.

Wood was benched to start the game due to breaking a team rule. Subsequent reporting was that Wood missed a mandatory pregame COVID test. Wood played eight minutes in the first half and did not play in the second half. Head coach Stephen Silas called that a "coach's decision". There are reports that Wood refused to play in the second half.

If Wood missed a mandatory Covid test and then was allowed to play that's a very serious violation and I would think a steep fine for the team. Missing the test is on him but letting him play afterwards is on the team.

Breaking team rules for testing does not mean he broke league rules for testing. And I agree he was apparently being a child again.

Porter's ego is often getting the best of him...and with a larger role he is really showing his true colors.

Making him the defacto point guard has really gotten to his head and his play really has set back the development of the young guys.

It isn't a surprise that Jalen Green has big and efficient scoring bursts when he isn't playing with Porter.

And honestly...why aren't the Rockets giving Garuba and Sengun more playing time...and instead playing Wood and Porter who aren't playing for the team?

Oh the horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, it IS a horror, considering how many vaxed players have caught Omicron and been forced to miss games, to the point where a number of games have had to be rescheduled.

Also, the infected players doubtless helped spread the disease to others to some extent, including their families, and as we know, lots of people have either died or been permanently incapacitated by the disease.

So yeah, bad look for both Wood & the team, and I can understand the league not being happy.

Probably they were arguing that they want to play hard and try to win and that does not comply with the team's plans...

and people have a 0.05% chance of dying so many more people have survived than have died. Again, give the fear mongering a rest.

Rockets Face Disciplinary Action For Kevin Porter Jr, Christian Wood

I read the title and thought the Rockets were in trouble for disciplining Porter Jr and Wood.

Hospital ICU's all over the USA are literally filled with CV19 patients, medical professionals are completely overwhelmed, exhausted and depressed, and are actually walking away, and legitimate non-covid patients are having a hard time getting actual ER treatment.

This is a huge, ongoing problem in and of itself that's impacting way, way more than just CV19 patients. It's also of course having a huge, ongoing impact on the economy, which hits everyone.

But speaking of those patients, getting CV19 is NOT typically a life-or-death matter, but a case of having organ and tissue damage done that will be with you the rest of your life, in a nation with the most ass-backwards healthcare payment system of all developed nations.

Meanwhile, it's the mandate-resisting, facts-minimizing, mask-resisting, vax-resisting idiots who are directly prolonging this national nightmare.

So yeah-- suggestion to get your facts straight and pull your head out of your ass during the most deadly global and national pandemic in the USA's history.

Thank you, gigantes. :-)

A more nuanced statement: The Spanish Flu (which unlike covid had no vaccine) killed more by percentage (the population was smaller), and it killed younger people on average. Covid-19 has already killed 200,000 more people than the Spanish Flu of 1918.
