Rockets Suspend Kevin Porter Jr., Christian Wood One Game Apiece

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jan 3, 2022 7:45 pm

The Houston Rockets have suspended Kevin Porter Jr. and Christian Wood for Monday's game due to their behavior surrounding Saturday's loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Neither Porter nor Wood played in the second half of the Rockets' loss to the Nuggets, which included Porter leaving the arena after a halftime locker room confrontation with assistant coach John Lucas.

Wood was benched to start Saturday's game and appeared to pout over Stephen Silas' punishment for him failing to show up for the team's daily COVID-19 testing, which caused the team's shootaround to be delayed.

Wood showed little inclination to check into Saturday's game when Silas called him.

I hope the NBA doesn't allow HOU to bring in hardship players with Wall sitting on the bench.

They shouldn't be allowed to suspend players from playing; they should fine them only.

The Rockets are prefectly happy for them not to play so they can tank more.

I'd put KPJ in the G League for the rest of the year to teach him a harsh lesson, maybe he can ponder going overseas to mature and travel, maybe in China or Europe he can be the star he thinks he is. Acted up in Cleveland, now Houston, addition by subtraction with him and Wood, no great loss to let them go and get the bad attitudes out of your team culture. Maybe he'll appreciate what he had once it's gone, and return to the league not such a hothead that disrespects veterans and coaches.

Exactly. He should have been fined the max amount, 1 million or whatever, as well. That's unacceptable when you are in the NBA.

KPJ makes 1.7M this season. I'm curious why you think he deserves to get docked 60% of his annual salary for *checks notes* getting pissed off and not hurting anyone.

Latrell Sprewell was fined 250K for choking out his coach.

I swear RealGM has the dumbest sports takes on the net.

KPJ makes 12K per game. Wood makes 94K per game.

Both of these figures far exceed what NBA teams are allowed to fine w/o the Union getting involved.
