In a wide-ranging interview with Sky Sports in his native Italy, Danilo Gallinari confirmed he hopes to stay with the Atlanta Hawks past the trade deadline.
"I am clearly ready to stay, I would like to stay until the end of the season also because changing in the race is never easy, for many reasons. But anything can happen."
Gallinari has been mentioned in trade talks, as Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk has said he won't hesitate to make changes before the deadline. The 14-year veteran's $20.5 million salary could be useful in salary-matching in a trade. Only $5 million of Gallinari's $21.5 million salary is guaranteed for the 2022-23 season.
This season, Gallinari is averaging the second-fewest points per game of his career at 9.8 points. He's still shooting well but is taking the fewest shots per game since his rookie season.
