The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to trade Cam Reddish to the New York Knicks for a 2022 protected first round pick via the Charlotte Hornets and Kevin Knox.

The Knicks will also acquire Solomon Hill and a 2025 second-round pick via Brooklyn in trade.

I think the pick will be used for a bigger trade. If that's not the case, they basically gave him away for free.

Because they had no plans to extend Reddish. They traded him early to get a cost controlled asset.

Reddish is solid. Luckily for Knicks he wasn’t getting minutes behind Collins. Fans never got to see what he has to offer. Anyone saying he’s not good hasn’t even watched him play

Wonderful move by Knicks -- acquiring a potential starting caliber player without giving much in terms of assets.

For Atlanta -- thought that they could have landed more for Reddish but ultimately they would not be able to extend him.

Long-term think that Atlanta will regret giving up on Reddish soon.

In the Knicks case, they are now stockpiled with enough quality young assets ( Quickly, Toppin, Grimes, Reddish, Robinson, McBride, Sims, Jokubaitis) and picks ( multiple future first round / 2nd round picks ) to make a run for a superstar (i.e. Dame, Beal, Harden in offseason ) should they go in that direction.

Ultimately -- Knicks should be patient with all the young talent and let it blossom at least into next season before thinking about making a major move ( who knows they may already have a few stars in the making on the roster already ). Patience and build for the long-term ( not short term ).

Great pickup for NYK. We'll see what ATL plans to do with the pick.

Knicks playing chess here. Barret, Reddish and Zion were all teammates at Duke. This is a play to get Zion to the Knicks. Hopefully Zion can lose some weight and actually play more than a handful of games. Look for the Knicks to go after him. This could be a throwback Duke team in the making bros.

Atlanta can't afford his extension and they don't want anymore salary this season. They regressed so it's a reset by converting a former fist round pick into a future first round pick. Could they have gotten more? Sure, but they're a mid market team and can't just throw money at more salary if the team's not ready to go all in. It's a great move by the Knicks and it shows how important it is to pay the right guys. Collins got a huge extension and it's not panning out.

Not sure if this means knicks are rebuilding or looking to get going now.

He's very talented. Has all the tools to be a star player. He's quietly been the hawks secret weapon. I'm mad the Bulls didn't get him. He can light up the 3pt line. Good feel for the game. Nice at getting inside the paint and scoring with finesse. Hawks have hunter back so he wasn't going to be playing much. But knicks don't really need him. They have toppin and Barrett. He's only there to be teamed up with Barrett to try to get zion to follow.

I’d like to play chess with the Knicks but when I look at their board I don’t see a King. I think that means the game is already over.

Shooting 35% fg and 26% 3pt this season. Not sure what everyone is getting boned up about. Knox just as young and just as bad imo.

Correction that was last season my bad. This year is respectful at 40% and 38%

On the surface, Reddish for Knox is a no brainier for the Knicks. The Zion angle? Not buying that so much. He might be too injury-prove to overpay for.

I wonder if now the Knicks will make a play for Myles Turner. I have to believe that he would be the kind of player Coach Thibs would want. It would definitely cost Mitchell Robinson and perhaps Toppin, but that would be good for the Knicks.
