The Los Angeles Lakers are shopping Talen Horton-Tucker in trade discussions, sources tell the Los Angeles Times.

While the Lakers still value Horton-Tucker, they lack ways of improving their roster without including him and his salary in a trade.

The Lakers re-signed Horton-Tucker on a three-year, $32 million deal in the offseason.

Horton-Tucker is averaging 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 27.4 minutes over 28 games this season.

21M/2 years left for a completely useless player isn't cap friendly. Caruso's prime years at 9.5/year is.

Last year the raptors were willing to trade Kyle Lowry to the lakers but the deal didn’t happen because they lakers were unwilling to include THT. He’s only 21 years old and has already shown an ability to get to the basket and score. If he can get a constant jump shot he can probably score close to 20pts a game given the opportunity. I’d say there’s someone untapped potential.. and obviously he’s a better trading chip than Caruso.

Wait... you think he's good because Pelinka assigned him unrealistic value? You should have no faith in the LAL front office. Wasn't Kuzma untradeable before they traded everything for Westbrook? Pelinka screwed up... they should have traded THT for Lowery. They'd do that today if they could. They blew it;THT sucks!

How is Pelinka’s value of him unrealistic? The Raptors were willing to do the trade.. The lakers didn’t want to commit that much money to Lowry in a contract extension and/or they probably felt they could get another all star level player for THT. It’s really hard to blame the lakers front office when the team hasn’t even been fully health or had time to build chemistry… the point of trading for Westbrook was to take some of the load off of Lebron on the offensive end of the court so he no longer has to create shots from himself and everyone else every time down the court. As such, he’s usage rate is the 5th lowest of his career. Westbrook shooting sucks and that’s just something you have to deal with but his other issue is turnovers which he seems to have corrected over the past 5 games or so and he also cut down on his turnovers the 2nd part of the season last year. I honestly think if the lakers can put a package together around THT for Harrison Barnes or Jerami Grant, add a big that can spread the floor (Olynyk), and have a healthy AD/Lebron/Westbrook they will be fine.

Well, the Raptors aren't perfect. Hindsight is 20/20. The Lakers might have thought that they could get another all-star level player for THT but they were wrong. They won't get Barnes or Grant either. Grant might be a fair trade but teams are way overvaluing him right now, so it's unlikely. Turnovers have been a Westbrick issue for his entire career. He has not solved it in the past five games. That trade was a huge mistake and almost everybody saw that right away. They traded away all their depth for a guy that is only good with the ball in his hands which takes the ball out of Lebron's hands, which is where the ball should really be. Now you're saying that if they just add some depth they will be fine. Yeah, I agree. They have THT (who has very little value around the league), some scraps and a 2028 pick. They might get one rotation player for that. Looks like they'll have to wait for the buy-out market.

2027 pick... and yes the westbrick trade was dumb because they could of had Hield potentially kept their frp they traded for westbrick still had KCP and AC and signed the vet they got including Monk making monk the third scorer they needed.. Monk can shoot and doesn't turn the ball over like westbrick.. They could of been a contender if not for that dumb ass trade.. THT has potential but I think he will always be an ineffienct scorer unless he finds ways like say a Harden to get to the free throw line all the time..
