Stanley Johnson, Lakers Agree To Two-Year Deal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jan 26, 2022 5:56 pm

Stanley Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a two-year deal.

Johnson's final 10-day contract with the Lakers expires on Wednesday. Johnson has averaged 6.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21.2 minutes over 14 games with the Lakers.

Johnson's deal will be guaranteed for the rest of the season.

Yay Stanley!
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

No since he was only driven this hard after Masai Ujiri told him (in no soft terms) that he wasn't good enough to be on the Raptors. He credits that with his turnaround, and not in a way to prove his doubters wrong but as what spurred him to realize that he 1. needs to work hard 2. treat his opportunities like gold. SVG kinda told him the same thing in the past but he didn't respond as well, so he definitely has matured a lot over the years as well.

There was a clear 2 year sample size (in addition to previous years) that showed he wasn't very good at basketball. Lakers are a team that's not very good right now either, so he's getting plenty of run and they are relying on him in a way teams haven't been for several years. Also it's not like he's been some kind of amazing player...he's just not been complete crap.

The main difference so far this year is he's hitting his close range shots at an insane clip. I really don't expect that to continue. He's shooting 14% higher than his career avg fg% and 70% from 2, 80% from 0-3 feet. I don't think that's sustainable. I wish him all the best though, he's still young and can build on this season moving forward.

Wow, who would've thought Stanley and Malik Monk would be the two bright spots on the Lakers team this year.

Raptors are in a good position long term. Scottie Barnes, OG, Pascal is a lot of defensive versatility.

Good for Stanley. He's the type of person who is grateful for any opportunity to play. No ego whatsoever.
