The Los Angeles Lakers had several potential deadline trades fall through, sources tell Bill Oram of The Athletic.
The Lakers discussed Khem Birch and Chris Boucher with the Toronto Raptors, as well as Cam Reddish with the New York Knicks. There was a three-team trade involving the Knicks and Raptors that fell through over draft compensation.
The Lakers also considered acquiring Dennis Schroder, though there was some pushback from some in the organization about bringing him back.
With the Lakers struggling this season, teams treated them as needing to operate out of desperation and sought unrealistic trade packages.
The Lakers will enter the offseason still holding Talen Horton-Tucker, and their 2027 and 2029 picks to use in potential trades.
